Ollie has never blended in. Not since he came to the United States, anyway. His golden light brown hair that catches the light just right was all too familiar to people in Sicily. Coupled with his light grey eyes, well, he was nothing special. Relocate the six foot one boy to a different continent and he's suddenly one of the hottest men around. Of course he loves every bit of attention he gets. It only feeds his ever growing ego, which is magically contained underneath his mess of hair. His defined bone structure creates a model-esque face for the boy which he continually uses to his advantage. If he were to stand perfectly still one might actually think he was chiseled out of stone.
Posing as an attorney to cover his job at the Division, Ollie can usually be found dressed in something consisting of nice pants, a jacket, and a tie. He doesn't mind the look, but he does find it uncomfortable. The moment he gets home or has time to himself, you can find the man in an old pair of jeans and a comfortable shirt. Being so close to the beach certainly doesn't hurt his complexion in the least.
LOVER I DON'T HAVE TO LOVE!
You know those crazy annoying people that don't shut up and want to convince you their opinion is right even if it isn't? Meet Ollie!
It's good to have solid opinions. At least he isn't a doormat. He's more like the door that hits you on the way out. Unless you agree with him. You've got a pretty good chance of being one of his friends if you agree with him. He's kind of like a dictator, though, so you've either got to prove to be worth his time or submit. Oh, and don't be fickle about it.
If you piss him off, you're going to know. He can be annoyingly straight forward; beating around the bush is a waste of time. He could be out doing more important things. It can be a little frustrating, dealing with someone who just spits it out like it is and doesn't take time to think it might come across a little degrading. Chances are, you deserve it. Sometimes he won't even lace it up with sarcasm - it's just there. He's kind of a sweetheart, yeah? He doesn't make you read between the lines.
He isn't all bad. He's great at getting a job done in a timely matter. Don't even try to mess with him if he has a deadline creeping up. Oh no. Ollie gets very uptight and cannot stand people that procrastinate important things. He could never handle something like that. Especially if it was a Division assignment. For some reason, he just cannot leave things unfinished. In no aspect of his life. It's a trait that was merely amplified when he was injected to become what he is now.
Naturally he's fond of loud noises, loud people, loud colours... if it bothers the majority of the population, he probably likes it. Oh, his music is too loud for you? That sucks. Get over it. What's the point in being quiet? Come on, honestly? Ollie isn't quiet and look, he turned out just fine. Sure, he's a little on the rude side but at least he knows how to get people's attention. That definitely comes in handy.
Despite all his... questionable qualities, Ollie has some perks. He's a loyal friend; he'll fight to the death (maybe) for all those people he loves and holds dear (all two of them). If he promises something, and means it, he tends to follow through with it. It pisses him off when people promise one thing but end up dropping the ball. He isn't going to be a hypocrite, so he's fine-tuned that quality in himself quite nicely. That's a plus, right?
DON'T KNOW WHEN
BUT A DAY IS GONNA COME!
BUT A DAY IS GONNA COME!
Growing up in Sicily is no different than growing up anywhere else in the world. Parents worry. They get overbearing. They punish their children. It was all terribly monotonous for Darius Reed. His parents loved him, and his younger sister, and made sure he was taken care of at all times. He never had a care or a worry in the world. In fact, he spent most of his time doing whatever he wanted simply because he could. He followed his parents’ rules and received an adequate punishment when he didn’t. That could have been what caused him to become so obedient, but no one knows for sure.
But Darius wasn’t always the angel he appeared to be. Time spent away from people he had to impress (parents, teachers, bosses) he had a tendency to be a bit colder. Ruder. Manipulative. Unforgiving. Darius was the epitome of two faced. He developed a skill for conning people, be it a good or a bad skill. The point was, he had it. He only used it when necessary when he still had a heart. After all, he didn’t always hate people. There were two people in particular that Darius was quite fond of.
Ariel & Angela. A family friend and his own sister. He was the oldest of the three. One year senior to his sister and three years senior to Ariel. Did he mind? Of course not. They were best friends. Sure, he was a little distant being the only boy, but the three of them were thick as thieves. They continually got into trouble, but everyone always forgave them. Perhaps if they weren’t so attractive things would have gone differently for the three of them, but as it was, they were angels in everyone’s eyes.
Of course, that wasn’t the way things always were. Darius liked Ariel. Liked her a bit more than just as a friend. He didn’t fully understand when he was younger, so he just kept on treating her as a friend. As he started to grow up, however, he realized exactly what he felt. His initial reaction was fear. He shouldn’t have denied it, but he did. Ariel was the closest person to him outside his own family, so he could never admit to liking her. Instead he began doing the ridiculous. Darius was old enough, at that point, to go out into the town and go to bars, so that was exactly what he did. He spent his weekend nights there, using all forms of manipulation to get the girls he wanted. Most looked like Ariel, or acted like her. It was his way of compensating. After all, she was only sixteen. It wouldn’t have been acceptable for nineteen year old Darius to admit how he felt about her. So the desire drove him mad and made him do things he regretted.
But there was nothing he regretted quite like Emily.
Emily was a tourist in Italy. She looked almost identical to Ariel. Naturally, he had his way with her one night, thinking he would be done with her. Nothing ever lasted for more than 12 hours anyway. She was in Italy for a few weeks, but he didn’t plan on hearing from her again. Until his phone rang. The number was one he recognized as a friend he went to the bars with on occasion. Picking up, with a smile, he was not expecting to hear Emily’s voice on the other end. She had been looking for him. They needed it to talk. Suddenly becoming the most serious person East of the Atlantic, Darius set up a time and place. He met Emily only to find out his greatest fear had come true.
Emily was pregnant. He was the father. He handled the situation calmly and responsibly. Emily and he agreed that the only proper thing to do was for the two of them to get married. The only issue was, she was from New York City. Her family was there. She couldn’t live here in Sicily. Darius knew he couldn’t keep her away from her family and he knew he couldn’t not marry her. Giving in, he agreed to move to New York City to be with her.
They had been together for almost nine months and married for seven before Darius found out. Emily wasn’t pregnant at all. She never had been. She’d claimed to have had a miscarriage three months earlier, but it was all a lie. A complete and utter lie. She’d tricked him into marriage. She’d forced him away from everything he knew so she could keep him. He was a prize. A dog. Nothing. She didn’t care about anything he’d had back in Italy. His family, his job, his friends, the girl he loved. Especially not the woman he loved.
And that was the end of Darius’ kind side. As he find out that Emily had lied to him, that she wasn’t pregnant at all, and was only trying to get a claim on him and his money, he withdrew from his wife. His cold, uncaring side slowly began to take over. Before long, he had lost the only part of him that was capable of caring about someone other than himself. His actions became selfish as he didn’t care about the consequences or what happened to the people around him. No one mattered any more. Just Darius.
And then he heard the horrible news. Ariel got married. She married some man back in Italy. He was supposed to be happy for her, but it was supposed to be him. He looked at Emily with nothing but hatred from that moment on. She had done nothing but ruin his life. If Darius hadn’t been a man of his word, he would have walked out on her. She couldn’t possibly be worth his time. The only thing that kept Darius sane was that he had Ellie. She was down south, also in the United States. He kept in contact with her, if only to keep from going crazy. Naturally, what happened next was what brought about Darius Reed’s demise.
He got a call from a hospital. Not a New York area code. He answered and heard the woman on the other end asking for Darius Reed. Once he’d confirmed she had the right person, he stopped breathing. She’d called to inform him his sister, Angela Reed, had been in a fatal car accident. She wasn’t going to make it through the night. Grabbing a bottle of scotch, Darius drank almost half of it in one go. He didn’t stop, either. He kept going, stumbling out of the apartment and down to the street. He had nothing left. Angela was dead. Ariel was married. He’d thrown everything away for a woman after money. Disgusted with himself and the world around him, Darius stumbled around New York City, drunk off his ass. He stumbled into an alley, thinking he had found a shortcut home, when he tripped. Hitting his head, rather hard, on the wall, Darius fell to the ground. His hand touched his forehead near his hairline, only to be covered in blood. With the amount of alcohol running through his system, it was enough. He closed his eyes, accepting what was to happen.
But he didn’t die. In fact, he was reborn in a way. The boy’s eyes opened to a surrounding he’d never seen before. It wasn’t a hospital, but it was certainly not hell. Looking around, he spotted someone in the bed next to him. His sister. But he couldn’t remember her name. It didn’t take long before he was informed of everything he needed to know. His life began, for the most part, at 23. His name was Ollie. Ellie was his sister. He was a tracker. That was all he needed to know. His missions were handed to him and he was to carry them out. Ellie and he were given one particular mission recently. To go find a boy named Jonathon and eliminate him.
Then there she was. The only person he remembered when he woke up in this new life. Ariel? They were there to kill her son. Ollie couldn’t bring himself to do it. He didn’t react to seeing her at first. Ellie made no notion of remembering her. So a day or two later, Ollie returned to the mansion she was supposed to be living in. He had to talk to her. He couldn’t remember everything about her. But, for some reason, the only thing he’d remembered when he initially woke up was the feelings he’d had for this woman. He didn’t know what to do.
In fact, he still doesn’t know. Ollie can’t get close to her without the Division knowing, but he can’t be away from her. He’s been trying to keep Ariel a secret, but he’s too confused to stay quiet. But the real question still remains. Who can he trust?
