( SUMMER DAYS, DRIFTING AWAY ! )
the summer of 1976 was the best anyone from hogwarts could remember. the potters practically adopted sirius black, and lily evans is finally starting to see the good in james, and had a terrible falling out with her former best friend, severus snape. snape is beginning to turn to the likes of the black sisters and lucius malfoy, along with a number of his other fellow slytherins for acceptance. but on the other hand, the marauders are closer than ever, and spent most of the summer rotating between their homes.
however, towards the end of the summer, whispers of a growing threat that peppered the daily prophet last year have turned into more or less screams, and the ministry is finally recognizing their potential as a threat. what began as the thuggish harassment of muggles living near wizarding residences has turned into frightening harmful pranks such as arson and gruesome hexing and jinxing. and even more disturbing, there have been disappearances. the ministry is sending up red flags and warning the wizarding community to exercise extreme caution. they also assure the public that they will apprehend the culprits very soon, as they have nearly the every department on the case.
meanwhile, a group of slytherin students and a few recent graduates sit toasting the success of their latest scheme with crystal goblets full of firewhiskey.

in these troubled times, the headmaster of hogwarts, albus dumbledore, knows that if this group of miscreants haven't been stopped by the ministry as of yet, then it is unlikely that they will be defeated easily. furthermore, no one knows better than professor dumbledore that friendship and a common goal are nearly undefeatable. however, he'd probably just call it love. dumbledore contacted the heads of beauxbatons academy of magic and the durmstrang institute, and invited them to participate in a foreign exchange program involving the students. after much coaxing, they have accepted. starting september first, hogwarts will be hosting a number of students from each school in an attempt on the headmaster's part to form strong ties and alliances with foreign magical powers, just in case worse comes to worst, as dumbledore has made a vague assumption that it will.
unfortunately for the world, dumbledore's vague assumptions generally prove to be incredibly accurate.
so say good bye to your easy and delightful summer, marauders. you've already fallen behind. while you were resting and joking and falling in love, your future opponents were already beginning their somewhat disorganized but nonetheless successful schemes. what will you do now? let the adults handle it? flee and hide and wait until it's over? there's no where you can run, and no where they won't find you. so it's time to realize that you're nearly of age yourselves, and it's time to make a choice. which ever side you take, just know that;;
